In order to find a real estate adviser or agent who meets your wishes and makes
your selling or buying experience a helpful one, I recommends you:
- DO NOT blindly stroll into or call a neighborhood company and ask for an agent at
chance.
- Ask friends and family for recommendations.
- Interview numerous real estate agents:
- Find out their history with the brokerage, their experience and background.
- Gauge their knowledge of your preferred towns.
- Ask for a directory of prior clients and their telephone numbers.
- Pay attention to whether a possible agent is listening intently to what you
say.
- Is he or she asking follow-up questions which encourage more explanation and
help him or her understand precisely your requests and desires?
- Give a possible agent the opportunity to educate you.
- A good agent should walk a client through the buying or selling process
before ever viewing properties or discussing a detailed transaction.
- Have a good idea of what you imagine from an agent and communicate those
expectations.
- How regularly do you want to hear from your agent?
- Do you want to have meetings at your house instead than the real estate
office?
- Weigh the benefits of running with an experienced agent versus a novice.
- An experienced agent may have more insight, but a new agent may have
innovative thoughts or more energy and time.
- Find an agent who complements your personality.
- If you like to begin your day at 7:00 a.m., dont decide on an agent who
arrives to the office at 10:00 a.m.
- If your chosen technique of communication is e-mail, dont pick an agent
whose most advanced technology is a fax system.
- Evaluate the agents firm and/or office.
- Look for a real estate organization whose agents can empower you with real
estate expertise and resources and provide first-rate customer service.
- Look for an agent who will be your partner.
- Find somebody you believe in, who will give you the details, help you make
intelligent, well-educated decisions and work with you throughout the whole
procedure.
